Many of our learners have told us they want to learn how to use Excel's VLOOKUP function. VLOOKUP is an extremely useful tool, and learning how to use it is easier than you thinkâ€™
Before you start learning Vlookup Formula first we need to understand some of the basic rules in Vlookup
Â· Vlookup formula will only works when there is unique item in the both of the file. Eg. If I want to get the price of the product from the price list , we need to check whether this product is in the data base .
Â· Many of the users will be confusion in writing the Formula, In which cells they need to write the formula. Here we need to write the formula where we required the data from the Database
Â· Lookup Value is Value which is in our file which is matching with Database. Eg. If we need the price of the product from the database and here the lookup value is Product Range.
Â· Table array of the Lookup functions should be start from the Similar Value Eg. While selecting the table array it should be start from the Product column to the range we require and also make the selection in the absolute range in Dollar sign or locking the range by the short key F4.
Â· Column Index is option which we need to put the column number which the table array starting to require column. Egg In the pricelist the we need Item Group and Price, For getting the Item Group the Column Index will be 2 ,because the number of the column from the Product to Item group is 2 Including the product column. If in the case of Rate it will be 3.
Â· Range Lookup is area where we need to provide the criteria for exact match of approximate matched Exact match we need to writeâ€ 0â€ or â€œFalseâ€ and for the approximate match we need to write â€œ1â€ or â€œTrueâ€
