#### How to Highlight The Negative And Positive Figure In Excel

In the business one of the important task of Managers, or other employees who are preparing MIS reports, are to compare the result with actual and target.

If the report is in the visualization method it should be very attractive and also effective for taking a key decision based on the report, here we are discussing how to prepare a report by highlighting the values based on positive and negative value.

Eg. Creating Sales Report based on Actual Vs Target

Step-1

Calculation of Variance in Figures and Variance in Percentage.

Step-2

Formatting the cells based on value if the value is positive it should in Green color, If  Negative it should be in Red color and if it is zero it should be in Black color.Format should be â€œ[GREEN];[RED];[BLACK]

Step -3

Formatting the cells based on the percentage if the percentage is positive it should in Green color, If  Negative it should be in Red color and if it is zero it should be in Black color.Format should be â€œ[GREEN]0.00%;[RED]0.00%;[BLACK]0.00%

Step-4

If there is up arrow and down arrow in the report it will be very attractive for this we need to insert symbol up arrow â–² shortcut key (Alt+3+0) and for inserting Down arrowâ–¼ shortcut key (Alt+3+1)

Format should be â€œ[GREEN]GENERAL â–²;[RED]GENERALâ–¼;[BLACK]

Format for Percentage  â€œâ€œ[GREEN]0.00%â–²;[RED]0.00%â–¼;[BLACK]0.00%
