How to Analyze the Performance with Conditional Formatting



                          Presentation of the report is very important in the business scenario and if it is in the visualization method which will more appeal than figures and which will be easy for reading the report. In excel we can present the variance analysis report in the visualization method using conditional formatting.

 

 

      Method-1

Variance analysis in Number

 

 Step-1

A difference of the figure between two periods Eg. Value of 2016 minus Value of 2015

 

Step -2

Select the area   >       Click on the conditional formatting   >          click on the icon set and select the directional icons          >      click on the manage rules       >       click on the edit rules      >       and change the types to Numbers from the percent and type the value 0        >       Click OK

 


 

  Method-2

Variance Analysis in Percentage

 

Step-1

Find the percentage variance for the two period Eg. (Value of 2016/Value of 2015)-1 and click on the  percentage format.

 

Step -2

 

Select the area       >    Click on the conditional formatting      >       click on the icon set and select the directional icons        >        click on the manage rules    >          click on the edit rules   >          and change the types to Formulas from the percent and type the value 0        >       Click OK
